#365 // 2 Degree Ice Art + Au Chocolat

 photo DSC03641_zps13116c02.jpg photo DSC03640_zpscfa4b21b.jpg

When I first heard about the Ice Art exhibition, I was all excited and went to get the tix at sistic, planning to head there during our first year anni. However, to my disappointment, it wasn't as awesome as I've expected to be because it was quite small and honestly, the ice crafting are not that exquisite. The only two things which I like was the slide and the life buoy slope. Both of us didn't stay inside for long because it was too cold and my fingers were all numb. What was worse...... my camera lenses were filled with fog and dew after we came out (which I thought they can't be saved initially) but turned out fine after a few hours.

It was quite a weird timing when we wanted to dine at Au Chocolat. We decided to order truffle fries and garlic prawn pesto bow pasta for sharing since both of us weren't that hungry and that we wanted to save more money for hong kong. Their truffle fries tasted pretty good but I still prefer those at beer market and the pasta was sooooooo yummy, extremely love the juicy tiger prawns. Thanks for the treat, bubz (:

Last but no least, here's a slightly late dedication for you:

When I first knew you, I didn't expect we would have come this far. I didn't expect, I will fall in love, accepting this relationship and learning to love. Both of us went through heaven and hell (not just ups and downs) and I'm glad we didn't give up just like that when things were going hay-wire. I guess, few of the most important factors in a relationship is to have faith, trust, understanding and acceptance. All these are definitely not easy but as long as you don't give up, it will definitely work out. I'm thankful for you, for being an 'anything' boyfriend in a good way, always compromising to food I'm craving for and places I'd wanna go. You may not be the best boyfriend, sometimes being quite dull and not romantic (even during special occasions), I still appreciate all the efforts you've made for the past one year - making meals for me, cooking my fav scrambled eggs, washing dishes for me because I dislike it, taking care of me when I wasn't feeling well, pampering me with sweet little treats, trying to be a lovelier boyfriend because you know I like it and etc...... Not forgetting the super cute one year anni card you've spent the night making which I love a lot, and you indeed brought me to the moon, rainbow and sun! Many more valentines, birthdays, christmas, new years and getaways to come. I love you, GJ <3

Christmas Stay-cation @ Studio M

Presents and food all prepared by each and everyone

The girls with a present each from our personal secret santa!

And maybe with the flower boy as well?

Thanks for the lovely gift my secret santa, people who know us would have guessed who my secret santa is hee!

Birthday surprise for hz's 21st as well!

Yay much love for hz (and er-hem)!!

After knowing them for almost 9 years, this was actually the first time we had a christmas party and stay-cation together, with plenty of food, secret santa gift exchange, birthday surprise, saboteur, endless night chat and crazy laughter!

There wasn't even anything that I could whine about even if it was squeezing on a queen size bed with my girlfriends because it was so merry! Anyway, this stay-cation didn't end just like that...... part two coming up soon x.

Picnic at the barrage

Last friday was spent at marina barrage for a double date picnic outing after numerous of failed plans. I was all excited but the weather had to upset me that day so it turned to be an indoor picnic by the sea.

Mini hearts ham & cheese sandwich prepared by me!

Minced pork meat balls made by GJ!

And tomato based fusilli cooked by wilson!

And so we spent the whole upper half of the day playing poker cards, chilling and laughing before we decided to snap some visuals (then we thought we should have taken them in the noon instead). Nevertheless almost all of the visuals turned out well! C:

Christmas post up next, goodnight folks!

PAUL @ Westgate

Last weekend spent with GJ exploring westgate and settling high tea at the newly opened PAUL. To be honest, some of the items are not as good as the flagship but I've to strongly encourage y'all to try the chocolate tart, probably the best that I've eaten.

PARK @ Holland Village

Located right infront of the exit of the station, beside hatched and provence, this rather new cafe has finally caught my interest to pay a visit mainly because of their all day breakfast menu and truffles fries (which I've been a little insane over these days).

Rise & Shine ($12) for myself and I really love the creamy scrambled eggs but the rest were just mediocre.

I couldn't really remember the name but it's some kind of minced lamb sandwich? You get to choose two sides along with the main courses and GJ went for fries ($16.50, including a top up of $3 for the truffle ones).

Not the best truffle fries, but mozzarella flakes managed to satisfy my craving that day!

Macaron, not macaroon

Here's a fun fact which I found out yesterday.

macaron photo: macarons macaron.jpgmacaron photo: macarons macaron.jpg

Picture taken from photobucket

Macarons are made of french meringue cookie shells filled with ganache or cream fillings in a variety of colours and flavours. Whereas macaroons are made of coconut meringue cookie shells often dusted with desiccated coconut or dizzled in chocolate.

Often, people mistake macaron as macaroon so here is the difference. One is made of almond flour, the other coconut. Also, pronounce and spell macaron as maca-RON, not maca-ROON because if you were to do so in european countries, they will probably give you a dollop of baked coconut instead.

On a side happy note, mom sponsored me for a phoon huat baking class (macarons and cheesecake) tomorrow! Stay tuned for the update x.

Wednes-date

Sometimes we just love being silly hee!

Anyway, this high tea buffet was a random pick for our late lunch. Sad to say, the standard has dropped a lot as compared to what I had a few years back. Choices were very limited, nevertheless if you're really craving for some xlb to fill your tummy, you definitely can try it because it's not costly for a weekday price!

And here's to the next location for dessert......

 photo DSC03204_zpsa121d54d.jpg photo DSC03202_zps484d7f09.jpg

This was what happened when both of us got too bored while waiting for the dessert, anyway it was his idea not mine!

Another highly raved belgium waffles with two scoops of ice-cream ($11.80) which was totally superb! The location isn't as inaccessible as what most people say as it's 5 minutes walking distance from braddell station. The only con is that the cafe itself is rather small to accommodate a huge number of customers so it will be a wiser choice to visit on a weekday noon.
