TGIF

Why TGIF?

1. I rarely have an off day on a friday. The whole day is usually packed with piano lesson and work.
2. I get to bake! Third attempt on macarons today but as usual, still have got rooms for improvements.
3. I've some 'me' time, with my bed, lappy, music, shows, readings and etc.

On a side note, there are too many concerns and contemplations about my own future plans these days. It gets into me sometimes that, living life should be just happy and carefree yet who can actually really do so? Most of the people will be studying their heads off to get that sheet of bachelor/master cert and then working their asses off just to be able to secure their future with monetary assets. So the question is, are you sincerely happy, honestly?

Wanting's 21st

Saturday night was finally spent with my girlfriends and the guys for the very impromptu birthday celebration at saveur for wanting because of slight miscommunication.

Our table full of french food!

Apparently I ordered the usual, saveur pasta and sauteed potatoes, and ended up regretting not ordering duck confit because it was so good! Definitely making a trip down soon for that.

5/6, we miss you evelyn!

Once again, happy 21st wanting! Hope you like the presents and have enjoyed the night xoxo.

Cedele // Arbite

At last, met up with wenlynn at serangoon gardens for a catch up session!

Afternoon tea at cedele because arbite only opened at 6 on a tuesday. As usual, I'm loving their cheesecake and wenlynn likes their tea a lot!

Mushroom and bacon salad ($13.90) which wenlynn commented that the sauce has made the salad pretty awesome.

Parma ham eggs benedict ($13.90) which I feel was rather mediocre.

Wild honey // Paris baguette

Wild honey for dinner because we didn't manage to visit canopy due to the sudden downpour and GJ's suggestion of walking to bishan park which caused us to be ultimately drenched!

Later which we chilled at paris b because there was a long queue at paul's which was why I ordered strawberry napoleon as I was craving for paul's mille-feuille.

Though it wasn't a smooth day, what matters more was the company :>

Snippets (iPhone)

My first try in baking lemon berry tartlets, not fantastic definitely but I hope it isn't that bad for those who've tried (except the lemon curd's slightly too sour).

An outdoor picnic became a balcony picnic with the primary school mates, ruby and shiling, two weeks ago because we were feeling exceptionally lazy and the fact that weather forecast has been too unpredictable! Cafe hop soon girls x :>

One of the random nights when I was craving for bacon and found some strawberries in the fridge so there was a 'weird' combination meal but I love it this way!

With the MSLC colleagues after a retreat at gangnam style korean bbq at rail mall! It was my first ever time trying a korean bbq and I'd say it's pretty good except that choices are limited for me since I don't take beef and spicy food.

Till then, x!

Afraid

"I’m afraid. I’m afraid of love and security and the unknown and contentment and the very facets of life most strive to experience. I’m afraid of accomplishment and success and the joyous occasions that are all-too fleeting.

I’m afraid of life, so I know I’m truly living."

Ocean Restaurant // GJ's 23rd

It was GJ's 23rd birthday yesterday and I've actually planned about a month plus ahead and booked ocean restaurant in advance. However, he had totally no clues where I was bringing him to besides the fact I accidentally disclosed sentosa as the location.

While waiting for the shuttle bus at hotel michael as that's probably the fastest route to equarius hotel. Luck was on our side somehow, we managed to get on a buggy instead of the bus and he was all so excited like a kid and emphasizing how awesome the buggy ride was.

This is the amazing view upon stepping into the restaurant. I wish I can describe how shocked GJ was when he saw this. He said, he didn't imagine it to really be an 'ocean' kind of ocean restaurant. Well, this has indeed made my surprise pay off!

The waiters served us complimentary tomato based mousse and bread while waiting for our starters and main courses.

Duck liver starter for him

King crab salad as starter for myself! The portion was relatively small but I'm a big fan of crab so how can I miss this right?

And here comes our main courses right after our starters......

King salmon with hokkaido scallop for me and I was astonished by the salmon initially because it looks completely like sashimi (which I don't eat at all). Then I actually requested if I can make it more cooked but the waiter said, it is only nice when it's being eaten like this. So I had no choice but to try it and it actually turns out pretty good, tasted much like normal cooked salmon just that it looks like sashimi!

Wagyu beef and tenderloin for him which he complained that the serving is very small for the price. Oh well, it's fine dining so what do you expect?

And our desserts......

I really love how this platter of passion fruit can mix so well with banana and chocolate!

Mont blanc for him and I'm glad I didn't order this because the alcohol taste was slightly too strong for my liking but I guess he did enjoy it.

A complimentary birthday cake from ocean restaurant which he sort of expected it.

All in all, it was indeed an eye opener to be dining in such an exquisite restaurant! Service was excellent and food was fabulous (except portions were really rather small) even though it's quite costly.

Oh prior to that, I actually surprised him at his hall before bringing him to this place.

A specially baked red velvet cheesecake and hand made collage for him. If you're wondering what I actually got for him, there isn't any tangible present besides the collage because I bought him an air tix to HK a few weeks ago so cheerios to our second getaway in january yay!

I know you'll be reading this, so once again happy 23rd birthday to you my dearest (and also shittiest since you like poopz so much) boyfriend! Certainly hope you've enjoyed it, lava you <3 (:
